Serious Injury Legal Help in Milwaukee – Brain Injury Awareness

March 30, 2017 - 3 minutes read

If you are injured as a result of someone else’s negligent actions, you are entitled to compensation. Having this right is not the same as enforcing it, however. That’s where an experienced personal injury attorney comes in – to make sure that you get all the money or other damages you are entitled to, no matter what type of injury you have sustained.

One of the most serious injuries you can experience is a brain injury.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, and the Brain Injury Association of America is proud to lead the nation in raising awareness through their #NotAloneInBrainInjury campaign – a campaign meant to de-stigmatize #braininjury, empower those who have survived, and promote the many types of support that are available. We are helping raise awareness throughout the month of March.

March 22nd – Brain Injury Awareness Day

The Brain Injury Association of America  announced that Reps. Pascrell (D-N.J.) and Rooney (R-Fla.), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force, will host Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill, Wednesday, March 22, complete with a brain injury awareness fair featuring more than 50 exhibitors, a Congressional briefing, and a reception to celebrate the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force and Brain Injury Awareness Month.

Although BIAA and brain injury advocates work with Congress though out the year, Brain Injury Awareness Day is important because it is the one day dedicated to educating your elected officials about brain injury and how vital federal funding is to continue the Federal TBI State Grant Program, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention TBI Programs, and brain injury research conducted by the TBI Model Systems.

Millions live with a traumatic brain injury which costs Americans more than $70 billion for treatment and care. The goal of the gathering at the Capitol is to get lawmakers to support a Senate bill which would make places that have state Medicaid services to provide assistance at homes and in the community.

Dr. Kennen Thompson at St. Francis Hospital said this illness can affect anyone at any age. “Unfortunately it happens with children at playgrounds,” Thompson said. “They happen with kids at high schools. They happen when you’re outside walking your dog and you trip on the sidewalk. It’s a sort of an injury that can actually happen unfortunately to any person and at any time.”
